Make a donation

Dear Neighbors,

As we enter 2008, Mendham Fire Department reaches its 103rd year of volunteer community service. Once again with your assistance our volunteer firefighters have answered the call. Following an over 100-year tradition, your volunteers regularly interrupt their lives, leaving family, friends, and work to answer those in need of assistance. Your support is a strong signal that you value the service of our volunteers, and the significant tax savings of a volunteer department. We appreciate any donation you can make to help our department.

You can also show your support with a donation of time! As with all Volunteer emergency service organizations it is becoming increasingly difficult to recruit new members. We have a real need for additional volunteers, particularly during the school year when many of our most valued members are away at college. Positions are available for anyone aged sixteen and up comprising varying degrees of training and commitment.

Very truly yours,

Donations are tax deductible and the Fire Department is eligible for corporate matching gifts through “Mendham Independent Hook & Ladder Co.”

Welcome to the Mendham Borough Fire Department web site.

The Borough of Mendham is a small community in northern New Jersey, located on Route 24, midway between the towns of Chester and Morristown. It is the home of about 5000 residents as well as the Black Horse Inn, a local restaurant that dates back to 1742.

Mendham Borough Fire Department proudly protects 5,000 people living in an area of six square miles. We operate out of one station that protects a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. We have an ISO rating of 5/9. We respond to an average of 150 calls each year.

Our Station ID# is 14180 - Station 18 - Morris County, N.J.

The Mendham Fire Department is made up of the Mendham Independent Hook & Ladder Co.-- formed in 1905, the Mendham Hose Company-- formed in 1913 and the Mendham First Aid Rescue Squad-- formed in 1940. We are a total volunteer organization.

The Fire Department has an active Junior Fire Fighters program to help build interest in fire fighting. Young adults ages 16 - 18 are encouraged to join both the fire department and the Rescue Squad through a high school program.

The Fire Department is also supported by the Mendham Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary.

We want to thank the community for it's support of our fund drives, and would encourage them to join our department because there is no better feeling than neighbors helping neighbors.
